Concept first
I focus on why a method works, not just which steps to memorise.
I help students build confidence, strengthen foundations and understand mathematics as something meaningful rather than intimidating.
Mathematics is often presented as a collection of rules and formulas to memorise. I see it differently.
For me, mathematics is a language — a way of describing patterns, relationships and ideas. The most common challenge students face is not a lack of intelligence, but a lack of confidence and clarity. Once a student understands why something works, the subject often becomes far less intimidating.
My background is somewhat unusual. Alongside mathematics and technology, I have spent years working in writing, theatre and performance. These experiences have shaped the way I teach. Rather than focusing solely on answers, I focus on communication, understanding and the ability to explain ideas clearly.

Good teaching begins with understanding how a particular student thinks, then finding the explanation that makes sense to them.
Students often improve when they stop seeing mathematics as a threat and start seeing it as a system they can understand.
